Hyôga du Verseau (G.A.)-0

Aquarius Hyoga is is a character from Saint Seiya: Next Dimension and Saint Seiya: Episode G - Assassin. He is one of the 88 Saints of Athena, one of the twelve Gold Saints, and is protected by the constellation Aquarius.

In Next Dimension[]

During his journey through time in the 18th century, Hyoga clashes against his predecessor Aquarius Mystoria, who eventually declares Hyoga as the future Gold Saint of Aquarius.

In Episode G – Assassin[]

As an adult, Hyoga becomes a bartender. Shun visits him in his bar and the two discuss the events that happened at Shinjuku involving Capricorn Shura. The conversation leads Hyoga to conduct his own investigation into the events.

Hyoga encourages Shiryu during his battle against the Gladiator Gram Sigurd, enabling the Libra Saint to win.

Later, Hyoga visits Takamichi, a former policeman who now manages Hyoga's bar and who serves as an informant. Hyoga asks for information on the Faceless. With Takamichi's information, Hyoga goes on to pursue these enemies.

Some time after, Hyoga meets Shura and the two go to a shop to eat a "perfect constellation", sundaes that are named after the zodiac constellations. Hyoga has an Aquarius sundae, while Shura has a Capricorn.

The two Saints are attacked by the Faceless Wadatsumi, and Hyoga quickly freezes her hand. He also freezes a tornado unleashed by his opponent by creating a wall of ice. The wall is destroyed by the Gladiator Lancelot. Hyoga rebukes Wadatsumi, who was upset by the intervention of Lancelot, but the reprimand annoys the girl even further. Hyoga puts out the fires that resulted from the fighting, for which Wadatsumi ridicules him and attacks him with several more techniques. Hyoga then puts on the Aquarius Cloth, which allows him to save some nearby civilians. Hyoga tries to dissuade Wadatsumi from harming the civilians but she does not obey and attacks with a Fire Storm and other techniques. Hyoga then uses Kol'tso and Diamond Dust to immobilize and kill Wadatsumi. Afterwards, Hyoga uses his Freezing Coffin technique to encase the body of the girl that Wadatsumi was using.

Techniques and abilities[]

  • Diamond Dust (ダイヤモンドダスト, Daiyamondo Dasuto): Hyoga creates cold air around his fist slowing the atomic motion of the air to form ice (manipulates the atoms of the air particles without destroying them, to stop them, its temperature drops quickly) which is manifested in the form of countless sharp snow crystals that are launched through a cold strong wind (blizzard glacial) capable of reaching and devastating effect freezing cold.
  • Kol'tso (Russian for ring) (カリツォー, Karitsō): Hyoga launches rings of icy wind from his index finger that encircle the body of the target, stopping their movements.

Cloth, constellation and temple[]

Aquarius

Hyoga's guardian constellation is Aquarius, and his Gold Cloth represents it and its associated myth: the beautiful youth Ganymede, loved by Zeus and carried off to Olympus to be his cupbearer, pouring water from his urn. The temple of Aquarius was known both in the manga and the anime adaptation as Houbeikyuu, the "Temple of the Treasure Urn". Although the Aquarius constellation is mostly represented by a young man, it is also sometimes depicted as a young maiden.
