The Crystal Saint (水晶聖闘士クリスタルセイント Kurisutaru Seinto?) is an anime exclusive character. He is Cygnus Hyoga's and Kraken Isaac's master in the anime adaptation, as opposed to the manga, in which their master is Aquarius Camus. In the anime, Camus was the Crystal Saint's master instead. This happened because the anime was being produced at the same time as the first arcs of the manga. At some point the anime overtook the events of the manga, so anime-original characters and arcs were needed to be created, that later conflicted with the canon story, since the producers weren't aware of Camus' existence by that point.

Personality[]

The Crystal Saint is a very honorable and righteous Saint. He is a kind but also austere master for Hyoga and Isaac.

Chronology[]

He was considered a threat by Pope Arles, who forced him under his control with his Genrou Maou Ken technique. After an emotional battle with Hyoga, the Crystal Saint takes his own life to stop Sanctuary from conquering the West Siberia.

Trivia[]

  • In the Hades Saga, which has nothing to do with the original anime, a memory of Hyoga shows that his master was Camus. Since then, in subsequent storylines or adaptations of past storylines, the Crystal Saint is largely disregarded in favor of Camus as Hyoga's mentor.
  • "Crystal" is not his actual name (which is unknown), but his "category".
  • This Saint was created to develop Hyoga's relationships, as back then nothing was known about his actual master and Hyoga was the only Bronze Saint who was not related to any living character.
  • The Crystal Saint was designed by animator Michi Himeno, inspired by Henri Toulouse-Lautrec's Art Nouveau style, as seen on the details of the Crystal Cloth.
  • In the Saint Seiya pachinko game, there is a scene where the Crystal Saint appears training a younger Hyoga, however, Isaac does not appear in said scene.
