Sōjirō Tokito (時任 惣次郎, Tokitō Sōjirō) is a character from the manga spin-off "Saint Seiya: Meiō Iden - Dark Wing". He is one of the protagonists of the spin-off manga "Saint Seiya: Meiō Iden - Dark Wing". He is the younger twin brother of Shōichirō Tokito and childhood friend of Cattleya Mikagami, who is the current reincarnation of the goddess Athena. When he was only eight years old, Aiolos discovered his potential and took him to the Sanctuary. There, he underwent intense training under the tutelage of Aiolos and managed to become the Gold Saint of Gemini.
As the Gold Saint of Gemini, Sōjirō guards the Gemini Temple in the Sanctuary and is one of the twelve most powerful warriors serving the goddess Athena. However, his true identity as Athena's Saint remained hidden from both his brother Shōichirō and his friend Cattleya, who believed that he had gone to study abroad. Years later, Sōjirō returned to Japan with the mission of secretly watching and protecting Cattleya, so she enrolled in the same school that she and her brother attended. So, Sōjirō entered Graad International University High School, where he was in class B and excelled at boxing.
During their second year, the school organized a boat trip. Everything went smoothly until they reached the Mediterranean Sea, where a mysterious ray of light fell from the sky and hit the boat, causing it to start sinking. In the midst of the chaos, his brother Shōichirō fell into the sea trying to save his companion, Yoruhime Tsukishima. Believing he was dead, Cattleya awoke as the goddess Athena and used her power to save the students. After this event, Sōjirō took her to the Sanctuary, where she would be presented as the reincarnation of Athena. From that moment, Sōjirō became her loyal guardian, dedicated to protecting her. However, one night, while they were in the Athena's Temple, they were attacked by the army of Hades. Upon seeing their faces, Sōjirō discovered that one of his enemies was Shōichirō, who after his death became one of the Three Leaders of the Underworld.
Appearance[]
Sōjirō is an attractive young man with a fair complexion and athletic body, the result of intense physical training he has undergone. This, together with its considerable stature, gives it a great presence. Her hair is black and seems to keep it messy, without a defined hairstyle; however, you may notice that several strands are combed towards the left side. His face does not have unique or particular features, but it has well-defined features, which gives him an attractive appearance, although common. The most remarkable feature of his face are his eyes, of an intense red color.
Like many characters in this series, Sōjirō has worn multiple outfits throughout history.
During the time he attended Graad Academy, he was seen mainly wearing the school uniform, which consisted of a black pant and a black jacket with white lines on the edges. Under the jacket she wore a white shirt and wore a green tie, tied with a Windsor knot. Also, like shoes, she had a pair of black shoes.
While at the Shrine, during his training, Sōjirō wore the same outfit as the aspirants and Saints who reside there: a white short-sleeved shirt and white pants, tied to the hip with a ribbon of the same color. As footwear, he wore a pair of flat shoes that are tied with straps over the foot, a type of shoe known as "Crépida", used by the inhabitants of ancient Greece and Rome.
Upon entering combat, Sōjirō summons the Gemini Cloth to protect his body and use all his power against his enemies.
Personality[]
Kōgetsuki personifies the ideal image of a Saint of Athena, showing loyalty to her goddess and exceptional human values. One of his most notable traits is his remarkable patience in explaining and helping others, which is demonstrated when he offers to support and educate Cattleya.
History[]
Childhood[]
Little is known about Sōjirō’s parents or the relationship he had with them, as the only family he is seen living with is his twin brother, Shōichirō. From an early age, Sōjirō showed a strong character and a special connection with his brother, whom he deeply admired for his kindness and fortitude. This admiration led him to defend him without hesitation whenever Shōichirō got into trouble with other children. During those years, she also met Cattleya, who became a close friend of both brothers. Together they began to spend most of their free time enjoying various activities. At some point, the two brothers joined a karate club.
The mission to protect Athena[]
After awakening as the goddess Athena and being transferred to the Sanctuary, Cattleya receives a visit from Kōgetsuki in her room. She explains where she is and the responsibilities that she will have to assume as Athena, in addition to helping her dress up and prepare for her presentation to the Gold Saints and the Pope [1].
Kōgetsuki accompanies Cattleya to the Pope’s chamber, where he asks her to wait until she is called and then leaves. Once she enters, Cattleya is greeted by the Pope and the Gold Saints, among whom is Kōgetsuki, wearing the Libra Cloth. After observing Athena’s behavior, the Gold Saints begin to express their opinions about her. Some have a favourable opinion, while others consider her too inexperienced. In response, Kōgetsuki offers to educate her. Then the Pope continues with the presentation, until Cattleya declares that he will not allow anyone to die in the next battle. These words are considered naive by Theseus, but he admits that he wishes he could make them a reality. Kōgetsuki responds by saying that Cattleya could make a difference.
At nightfall, Kōgetsuki and Sōjirō watch Cattleya from outside her room and take the opportunity to talk about her. Kōgetsuki comments that he can sense that Cattleya is a strong person, even though she has not yet fully awakened as Athena. Sōjirō replies that it has always been so, as Cattleya tends to keep her problems to herself and recovers on her own. Then, Sōjirō tells her that he has always done everything possible for her, but if it doesn’t bother him, he will now leave her in the hands of Kōgetsuki, as he believes she is the reason why Cattleya has managed to stay strong at that time [1].
As Sōjirō retreats, Kōgetsuki begins to experience a strange sensation. Remembering the incident that Athena suffered on board the ship, she remembers that this accident dealt a heavy blow to the troops of Hades, but also heard that, at the same instant, a powerful cosmos appeared at the bottom of the sea. However, What worries him most is that he remembers the meeting of the Gold Saints was attended by all twelve, which seems strange to him, since it should not be so. So he begins to hold his aching head and wonder if his memories have been altered in some way and who could have done it. After this, Kōgetsuki proclaims that despite the confusion she feels, she is determined to protect Athena no matter what.
At the age of 8, Sōjirō was discovered by Aiolos, who recognized his enormous potential and powerful cosmos, despite his young age. The encounter between the two and how Sōjirō came to know that Cattleya was the reincarnation of Athena remain a mystery. However, it is known that Aiolos decided to take him to the Shrine, and Sōjirō accepted in hopes of obtaining the necessary strength to protect Shōichirō and Cattleya. In order not to worry his brother and friend, Sōjirō lied to them, telling them that he had been selected to study at a school abroad.
Arriving at the Sanctuary, Sōjirō and Aiolos observed the Twelve Temples in the distance. Upon noticing that Sōjirō was nervous, Aiolos gave him a word of encouragement, assuring him that he should not feel this way, for with his incredible potential there was no doubt that he would become a Saint. These words filled Sōjirō with confidence, who began to light his cosmos, remembering that he was there to gain the power necessary to protect Shōichirō and Cattleya. Aiolos, realizing the intensity of his cosmos, was surprised, noting that despite being so young, Sōjirō possessed a very powerful cosmos. This led him to think that he could become a Silver Saint or even a Gold Saint. Sōjirō turned to him and asked him not to tell Shōichirō or Cattleya about the arduous and dangerous training that was about to begin, as he did not want to worry them. Aiolos, with a smile, assured him that they would not find out and that he had nothing to worry about. So the two continued their way towards the Shrine, while Sōjirō, as he walked, thought that he would like to become a Saint as noble and powerful as Aiolos.
So, Sōjirō began an arduous training that lasted for years. Throughout this time, he had to overcome extreme challenges, ranging from intense physical exercises for hours and hitting a huge rock, to being submerged in the depths of the sea, tied to heavy rocks. On multiple occasions, she fought against her training partners. In one of those battles, one of them hit him with such force that he threw him into the air. And, to make matters worse, it was also thrown directly into an erupting volcano. However, the training was not only focused on physical tests. Sōjirō also devoted himself to studying academic disciplines, such as mathematics and other subjects. In addition, not everything was suffering and pain; there were also moments of calm and happiness with their new companions, as when they organized a party to celebrate the birthday of Aiolos .
Years later, when Sōjirō finally completed his training and became the Saint of Gemini, he met with Aiolos one night to admire the stars above the Sanctuary. At that time, Aiolos congratulated him for his efforts and for having achieved his goal. He then explained that the Saints' fate was to face Hades in the impending battle ahead and asked him to use his power only to maintain order and justice in the world, as well as protect Athena. Convinced of his mission, Sōjirō answered with a "yes" to his teacher, which caused Aiolos to smile cheerfully.
Later, Sōjirō, along with Theseus and Aiolos, travel to Japan on a mission to secretly protect Cattleya. To fulfill his goal, he enrolls in the Graad Academy, where Cattleya and Shōichirō will also attend. On the day of entering the school, Sōjirō meets up with Cattleya, and together they go to the building where Shōichirō lives, as he plans to surprise him by revealing that he has returned and will attend the same school. To surprise him, Sōjirō hides behind a pole while waiting for his brother to leave the house. Soon after, Shōichirō meets up with Cattleya, who points out the place where Sōjirō is hiding. Then, Sōjirō comes out of hiding, and Shōichirō, seeing him, is surprised to notice that he wears the same uniform as them. Finally, Sōjirō reveals that they will be at the same school, and the three share the joy of being together again. They talk about what they have experienced during the time they were separated, although Sōjirō continues to hide the truth and only mentions a made-up story about his supposed school abroad.
At the end of the talk, all three head to school. On the way, Sōjirō perceives the presence of an enemy, so he makes up an excuse about a stomach ache to split up, promising them that he will meet them at school. Quickly, Sōjirō moves into the shadow of a building, where he encounters three living corpses. Before confronting them, Theseus appears and approaches Sōjirō and explains that these dead are warriors of an ancient Holy War and suspects they belong to the army of Hades; therefore, they cannot be defeated, no matter how much damage they receive. Then, Sōjirō uses the Another Dimension technique to defeat them. Impressed by the power of his companion, Theseus recognizes his skill, but also perceives that his excessive kindness could harm him in the future. Both talk about the appearance of these dead, and Theseus suspects that someone might be manipulating them, so he begins to look around for that person.
After the event, Sōjirō arrives at the school, where the entrance ceremony is taking place. Moves quietly to sit next to Cattleya and Shōichirō. Once settled, he observes the place and notes that Theseus is also there as a pupil. At the front, see Aiolos next to the director, since he has joined as a teacher. However, Sōjirō feels a powerful cosmos and begins to search for its origin, discovering that it comes from a young woman whose beauty has caused a sensation among the students. Cattleya, noticing that Sōjirō is watching the girl, tells her that she is really beautiful, but he, perceiving the intense cosmos of the young woman, remains alert to her presence.
Sōjirō spends time with Cattleya and Shōichirō, but remains alert to the presence of this mysterious girl, who has been following Cattleya around school. Therefore, he meets with Theseus and Aiolos to discuss what is happening. The three begin to secretly watch the young woman, waiting for her to make any suspicious moves. However, seeing that she only watches Cattleya without performing any action, they begin to doubt whether she really is an enemy. Sōjirō proposes to confront her directly to discover his intentions, and Theseus and Aiolos agree with him, leaving the situation in his hands. So, Sōjirō goes to the roof of the building where the girl is watching Cattleya.
Upon arrival, the young woman greets him, referring to him as the Saint of Gemini, and immediately introduces herself as Charlotte of Necromancer, explaining that she is watching Athena on Pandora’s orders. Although Charlotte wants to avoid the fight, Sōjirō is still suspicious of her and decides to confront her. Both summon their armor and start fighting, attacking each other with their special techniques. Charlotte believes she has defeated Sōjirō with her Mort Resurrection technique and leaves the scene. However, Sōjirō stands up unscathed and tells her that he has not perceived an evil cosmos or malicious intentions in her, so he does not wish to continue the fight. Charlotte takes off her armor and smiles at Sōjirō, who is willing to listen. So the two of them decide to retreat to another place to talk.
The two go into a food hall to talk. Initially, Sōjirō seems uncomfortable thinking that it may be strange for them to talk in that place, but she replies that the others will surely think they are talking about some video game or series. Sōjirō asks if it is true that they are not trying to attack Athena, to which she replies that it is true and that they are now at peace. The two continue chatting, but Sōjirō is surprised when Charlotte tells him that several of her comrades have been defeated by the Saints, as she did not know they were already fighting against Hades' army. Charlotte cannot believe that a Gold Saint is unaware of such a situation, and goes on to explain that she had been investigating the defeat of her companions thinking it was an order from Athena, but he realized that Athena had not yet awakened and judged that she was not in a position to give orders. When they finish eating and talking, the two leave the place, but before leaving, Charlotte thanks him for having listened to her and tells him that he is a good person.
Leaving the restaurant, Sōjirō says goodbye to Charlotte and immediately calls Aiolos to inform him of what he has discovered. Aiolos, who is still at school, does not fully trust information from an enemy and believes that it would be okay if a Saint came forward and started attacking the Specters as soon as he found them. At the end of the call, Aiolos thanks him for the report and asks him to continue protecting Athena while he continues patrolling the campus.
In his apartment, Sōjirō is lying on his bed, looking at his cell phone with concern. At that moment, his brother enters the room with two cups of tea and, seeing him thoughtful, asks him if he was talking to someone. Sōjirō reveals that one of the teachers present at the admission ceremony was Aiolos, the person who had helped him when he was abroad. Although he does not tell the whole truth, he takes the opportunity to talk about the great person that is Aiolos. However, something strange begins to happen with his cell phone screen, which generates a bad feeling in Sōjirō. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to him, Aiolos is fighting Eito in the Graad Academy, where his opponent manages to severely wound him and finally eliminates him completely from existence. This event causes the name of Aiolos to disappear on Sōjirō’s phone, and he forgets it as if it had never existed. Confused, he wonders with whom to speak now, if not with Theseus, since only the two of them had traveled on this mission. Looking out of the window, Sōjirō sees a shooting star and remembers hearing that these were fragments of stars flying through the sky, but he wonders where he heard it and why he suddenly feels so sad.
Months passed, and during that time, Sōjirō’s life went on as normal, in the company of his friends and brother. In addition, he continued to practice boxing and occasionally met with Theseus to discuss his mission. On one occasion, while walking through the school with Shōichirō and Cattleya, the latter saw a sign announcing a boat trip across the Mediterranean organized by the school. Cattleya was enthusiastic about the idea, as she had always been attracted to the culture of Greece and had not had the opportunity to travel since her family’s accident.
Soon afterwards, during a sports practice, Sōjirō, Shōichirō and Theseus participated in a football match where Sōjirō faced Julius, the captain of the school team. Julius managed to outmaneuver Sōjirō and advance towards the goal. Observing this, Theseus told him how it was possible for him to lose the ball as a Gold Saint, to which Sōjirō replied that Julius was a young man of great talent and might even have the skills needed to become a Saint. Meanwhile, Julius reached the goal and shot, but Shōichirō, who played as a goalkeeper, managed to deflect the ball. Sōjirō congratulated his brother on the move, and Julius, recognizing his skill, also congratulated him. In addition, he asked them to join his football team, an invitation that the two brothers kindly declined. At the end of the match, Sōjirō and Shōichirō met with Cattleya, who congratulated them on their efforts.
The Awakening of Athena[]
A while later, during the school boat trip in the Mediterranean, Sōjirō enjoyed the celebration of the students. At one point, he and Cattleya approached Shōichirō, who was watching the sea, and Yoruhime. Mocking, Sōjirō asked his brother if he was looking at his favorite girl. Shōichirō’s reaction led Sōjirō and Cattleya to ask him directly if he liked her. Although Shōichirō avoided answering clearly, they were both sure that he had feelings for Yoruhime. The three then listened to Julius give a motivating speech, reminding everyone present that they were young promises who would contribute to the future of the world. Soon after, a cat started running around the boat until it reached Yoruhime. Seeing this, Sōjirō took her brother by the collar of his shirt and threw him towards Yoruhime to help.
However, the tranquility and happiness of that moment were abruptly interrupted when a column of light hit the boat, causing a fire and a series of explosions that shook the ship. In the midst of the chaos, Yoruhime was thrown overboard, and without a second thought, Shōichirō rushed to rescue her, but in his attempt to save her, both ended up falling into the sea. Before the helpless looks of Sōjirō and Cattleya, who could do nothing Shōichirō held the cat that Yoruhime was carrying in his arms and, to save him, threw it at Sōjirō. With tears in his eyes, Sōjirō could only watch as his brother disappeared into the depths of the sea.
Cattleya, filled with despair, kept shouting the name of Shōichirō when an explosion caused several metal fragments to come towards her. Quickly, Sōjirō destroyed the shards with his fists to protect her. Cattleya noticed that Sōjirō emitted a golden glow, something that surprised him, as the cosmos should be invisible to normal people. This made her wonder if she was waking up like Athena. More explosions began to shake the boat and, desperate, Sōjirō wondered how he could protect everyone while taking care of Cattleya. At that moment, Cattleya, overwhelmed by the strong emotional impact of the loss of her friend Shōichirō and seeing the suffering of her companions, woke up as the goddess Athena to be able to save them. That’s when Nike appeared in front of her and, by taking her, used his cosmos to disperse the flames, while asking Sōjirō and Theseus, whom she now recognized as Saints, to help her take the boat to safety. The three used their cosmos to float the ship over the sea.
After saving the students and moving the ship ashore, Sōjirō and Theseus took Cattleya to the Sanctuary, where she was to take on her role as Athena. Once there, with the help of Kōgetsuki, Cattleya prepared to appear before the Gold Saints and the Pope, who were waiting for her in the papal chamber, formed into a line. When Cattleya looked at them, Sōjirō greeted her with a smile. She, still unsure of how to behave as a goddess, presented herself somewhat naively to the Gold Saints. Seeing this, Sōjirō could not help laughing, while the other Gold Saints, observing Athena’s attitude, began to express their opinions. Some had a favourable opinion of her, while others considered her too inexperienced for the battle that was about to begin. The Pope intervened to calm the spirits and continued with the presentation. It was then that Cattleya, with determination, declared that he would not allow anyone to die in the next battle. These words made her blush, returning to her innocent attitude, which caused Sōjirō to keep laughing. However, Theseus took seriously what Athena said, and although his words were seen as naive, he expressed the wish that he could make them a reality. Kōgetsuki, hearing this, replied that Cattleya might make a difference.
As night falls, Kōgetsuki and Sōjirō watch for Cattleya, who is still sad about Shōichirō’s death, from outside their room, and take the opportunity to talk about her. Kōgetsuki comments that he can sense that Cattleya is a strong person, even though she has not yet fully awakened as Athena. Sōjirō replies that it has always been so, as Cattleya tends to keep her problems to herself and recovers on her own. Then, Sōjirō tells her that he has always done everything possible for her, but if it doesn’t bother him, he will now leave her in the hands of Kōgetsuki, as he believes she is the reason why Cattleya has managed to stay strong at that time.
The mission of the king of the Underworld[]
Three months have passed since Cattleya’s arrival at the Shrine, and Sōjirō has remained by her side as her friend and faithful guardian. At this time, Cattleya has had the opportunity to meet the other Gold Saints, except for Capricorn Eito, who has remained isolated in his Temple. Due to this behavior and the fact that Theseus told him that he was responsible for the attack on the ship, Sōjirō is suspicious of Eito and suggested to Theseus that they should keep an eye on him [2]. Meanwhile, in the Underworld, Shōichirō awakens as one of his Leaders, and Hades assigns him, along with Yoruhime, the mission to eliminate Athena, whom they blame for the destruction of the Underworld.
At night, Sōjirō and the Pope accompany Cattleya to her room, where the Pope asks Sōjirō to protect Athena. Cattleya enters her room and returns to her normal behavior, thanking that Sōjirō is the person in charge of protecting her this time, since only with him and Kōgetsuki can act normally. Cattleya falls asleep in her bed while Sōjirō, outside the room, rests on a chair. Suddenly, Sōjirō feels the presence of enemies entering the Athena's Temple and immediately stands up to fight them, stopping the black arrow with which they try to kill Athena, but seeing the enemy’s face, he realizes it is Shōichirō. At that moment, Cattleya wakes up and runs out of her room to see that the enemies are her friend and former classmates.
Shōichirō is confused by what is happening, but does not have time to process it as Sōjirō begins attacking him immediately. At the same time, Yoruhime approaches Cattleya and questions her for destroying the Underworld. This situation causes Shōichirō to lose control and enter a state of fury. So, he summons his Surplice and, following the orders of Yoruhime, prepares to attack with his Greatest Caution technique. In response, Sōjirō strikes back with his Galaxian Explosion technique. The clash of powers causes damage to both, who are thrown against a wall by the force of the collision. Cattleya and Yoruhime scream in anguish for them, but their concern is dispelled when they both rise from the rubble. Shōichirō regains consciousness and stops fighting, turning to Cattleya to ask him why he destroyed the Underworld, as he was there and considers it a good place. Cattleya, in tears, responds that she did not attack that place and that neither she nor the spirit of Athena want this war. Upon hearing this and seeing the young woman’s expression, Zhu and Yoruhime realize that she is not lying. Zhu wonders if Hades has lied to them, but Yoruhime does not believe so and considers that there is a third enemy involved in this conflict. Therefore, they will have to deal with that person first.
The desire of the goddess[]
This discovery prompts Yoruhime to end the confrontation, which pleases all present. Shōichirō approaches Cattleya and Sōjirō to chat happily with them, but soon after, Yoruhime informs Zhu and Shōichirō that they must leave immediately, as the Saints could arrive at any moment.
Suddenly, surprising everyone, the black arrow that lay on the ground rises and pierces a window, through which enters the Sagittarius Cloth. He holds the arrow and places it in his bow, pointing directly at Cattleya. Everyone realizes that his intention is to kill Athena, so Yoruhime orders Zhu to stop him. However, Zhu’s attack is repelled and returned against her. Upon seeing this, Yoruhime wonders how it is possible that a Saint could use the Underworld arrow and possess such an evil cosmos. Then, Sōjirō and Shōichirō stand in front of Cattleya to protect her. Sagittarius attacks with his Atomic Dark Bolt, firing the arrow at Athena. Although the brothers combine their forces to stop it, the arrow wounds them and throws them into the air, as it continues its course until it pierces Cattleya’s chest.
The arrow stuck in Cattleya’s chest begins to shine, and the Sagittarius Cloth also emits a light from within. All present, except Zhu, are enveloped by that light and transported to an unknown space. There, the soul of Athena manifests before them and asks for the help of the soul of Sagittarius to transmit his will. Thus, Athena reveals that this Holy War has been manipulated by the Demiurge, an evil god with the power to control reincarnation and who wants to destroy the whole world. From the shadows, this god has been manipulating the Holy War with the help of Saints and Specters who have allied themselves with him.
Cattleya then asks Athena what they should do to stop that god. In response, the goddess’s glow envelops Cattleya and Yoruhime as she explains that they are both the banners of hope, and that, to fight this battle, they will summon trusted companions. Just as in the past, Athena had loyal and brave warriors who accompanied her on her crusade, in this world or any of the infinite worlds, those with a righteous soul will always join whoever carries the spirit of Athena to defeat evil. Upon hearing this, Cattleya and Yoruhime agree to face the enemy. Athena then goes to Shōichirō and Sōjirō to cheer them up, and reveals to Sōjirō that those who have always been most concerned about the welfare of the world are protected by the constellation of Gemini. Though they are torn between love and hate, no one can overcome their souls. Sōjirō replies that he will not be defeated on behalf of the Gold Saint of Gemini. Finally, the goddess asks them to protect the world, and the four look at each other with determination, promising, without saying a single word, that they will stop the war and defeat the enemy.
The four are returned to the interior of the Temple of Athena, where the arrow that pierced Cattleya’s chest disappears and the Sagittarius Cloth recovers its original form. At that moment, Sōjirō hears the voice of his master Aiolos, who entrusts everything to him. At that moment, memories of him begin to spring up in his mind, as tears of blood gush from his eyes. Lamenting having forgotten Aiolos, he puts his hand over his face, horrified to realize that his enemy can not only manipulate his memory, but even have the power to erase a person from existence. Then he explains to all that the evil cosmos which corrupted the Cloth of Sagittarius has been purified by the soul of a brave Saint, who sacrificed the last of his cosmos to release that Cloth and allow them to communicate with the soul of Athena.
Elsewhere in the Sanctuary, the Pope detects the presence of the Specters and, concerned, orders the Saints to go to the Temple of Athena. In the face of this, Sōjirō tells Shōichirō that they must end this twisted Holy War. Therefore, he asks you to trust him, to which Shōichirō responds that he is the person he trusts most in this world. So, to prevent Shōichirō and his companions from being captured by the other Saints, he decides to use his Another Dimension technique. Cattleya asks if it is not risky to use this technique against him, but Sōjirō explains that he has full confidence that Shōichirō will survive and that they will meet again later. Shōichirō, trusting his brother, holds Zhu and Yoruhime to protect them, while Sōjirō executes his Another Dimension, which absorbs them and sends them to another dimension.
A little later, the Pope, Eulalia and Kōgetsuki arrive at the Temple, where they only find Sōjirō and Cattleya. Eulalia, visibly upset, asks them what has happened, while the Pope questions Sōjirō about whether it was a Specters attack, which he confirms and explains that he destroyed them with his Another Dimension. As he watches the Pope and the Gold Saints, Sōjirō wonders if any of them could be one of the traitors mentioned by Athena, although to him they all seem like good people.
Wyvern vs Capricorn[]
Soon after, Cattleya and Sōjirō meet with Theseus, whom Sōjirō considers a Saint of trust. Together they begin to draw up a list of Saints whom they consider trustworthy. Cattleya, without hesitation, decides to include Eito, which surprises both Theseus and Sōjirō. Both ask if he knows him, and she replies that Eito went to the same elementary school as her and Shōichirō, and when she had a chance to talk to him, she realized that he was a good person. Sōjirō and Theseus point out to him the strange behavior of Eito, who has been isolated since Cattleya’s arrival at the Shrine, and for this reason have been watching him, as they do not trust him. Cattleya then recalls the incident between Eito and Shōichirō during the karate tournament, when Shōichirō severely wounded him. However, Cattleya is convinced that Eito is still a good person and believes that an event like that should not have changed his way of being. Therefore, he feels that he would be a valuable ally.
Abilities[]
- As a Saint he can control the energy known as cosmos.
- The Saints have the power to tear the sky with their fists and break the earth with their kicks.
- Like Gold Saint, he can travel and fight at the speed of light (300,000 kilometers per second) and, thanks to the Gold Cloth he wears, he can withstand the cold down to -273.15°C, that is, absolute zero.
- He is a young man endowed with great intelligence and talent, since he managed to enter as a student in a prestigious school like the Graad Academy. In addition to his academic skills, he also stands out for his talent in sports such as "boxing".
- Analytical thinking: This ability allows Sōjirō to understand and break down any situation from a general perspective. Your keen perception allows you to examine every detail of what is happening around you, helping you determine the best strategy for your next move.
- Sōjirō is a young man who was born with a powerful cosmos latent within him. Therefore, even when he was only eight years old and had not yet obtained the title of Saint, he already showed superhuman physical endurance. This is clearly evident in his training, where he was subjected to rigorous extreme tests:
- He had to hit a huge rock with his bare hands and hold the weight of his body only on his index fingers for long periods of time.
- He was sent to meditate on the seabed, having to endure both the pressure of the sea floor and the lack of oxygen. This not only demonstrates their physical stamina, but also their superhuman ability to hold their breath for a considerable time.
- Finally, it was thrown into a volcano, where it had to endure extreme temperatures ranging from 800 to 1,200 degrees Celsius, which is the temperature at which magma is found.
- As a Saint he can control the energy known as cosmos.
- Sōjirō is considered one of the strongest Saints of his generation. His companion Theseus mentions that his cosmos is impressive, even suggesting that he might be one of the best Saints there are [1]. For her part, Charlotte also recognizes the strength of her cosmos by feeling it and later states that Sōjirō is said to be, like the Saint of Gemini, the most powerful of all the Gold Saints.
- His impressive power is evidenced when he faces his brother Shōichirō on equal terms, who has been recognized by Hades as the most powerful Specter in his army. In addition, Sōjirō, by concentrating and elevating his cosmos to the maximum, manages his Galaxian Explosion to transcend dimensions to attack a god as powerful as Yaldabaoth and thus prevent his resurrection.
- The Saints have the power to tear the sky with their fists and break the earth with their kicks.
- Speed of light: Like Gold Saint, Sōjirō is able to move and fight at the speed of light, that is, 300,000 kilometers per second. Moreover, as one of the most powerful Gold Saints of his generation, he may even outpace this speed, as does his teammate Vassilios. He has also shown that he can compete on equal terms with his brother Shōichirō, whose speed is so impressive that for a Gold Saint like Eito it seems to teleport
- Control of space: Through his Another Dimension technique, Sōjirō can manipulate the space-time around him, thus opening an interdimensional rift that leads to another dimension. In addition, through this technique, it can also create a cube-shaped dimensional barrier surrounding the area or person it wishes to protect. In this way, the attacks of your opponent are deflected in another direction, preventing any type of attack from reaching the area within the barrier. Even the cosmos of Yaldabaoth, capable of crossing barriers between dimensions and producing cracks in them, was diverted by this barrier.
- Star Life Points: Sōjirō has demonstrated a broad knowledge of the vital points, known as Star Life Points, which are said to control the lives of the Saints. By precisely hitting these points, both on his own body and that of a partner, he is able to accelerate the healing of both. In addition, it is claimed that in situations where he is poisoned or incapacitated, he can hit these points on his body to increase his vitality and thus overcome such ailments. However, its usefulness goes beyond healing; being vital points, a hit in these areas can intensify the damage on your opponent’s body, increasing the chances that their attack is lethal.
Notes[]
- The character’s technical sheet, included in Volume 3, also describes his hobbies, tastes and aversions.
- Hobbies: sports (in general, from ball games to e-sports).
- Tastes: boxing, fried rice and dogs.
- He doesn’t like: dictatorships, soft drinks and rats.
- Sōjirō is the only main Saint of Gemini in the franchise who has no mental problems. He does not suffer from a double personality like Paradox, nor has a parasitic twin like Cain, and was not mentally manipulated by a god, as happened to Saga and Aspros. He is also the only one who, as an adult, has a good relationship with his twin brother. From a young age, they were always very close, and, from an older age, Sōjirō continues to show great appreciation for him. The only time they fought was when Sōjirō thought his brother was being controlled by Hades by becoming Specter. But he soon realized that it wasn’t, and their relationship was back to being as good as ever
- The fact that Sōjirō stands out in a sport such as boxing is a reference to Pollux, one of the twins who gave rise to the constellation of Gemini, who, according to Greek myths, was known for his skill in a fighting style similar to boxing.
- The battle in chapter 13, between Shōichirō and Sōjirō, may refer to two events that occur in the main universe of Saint Seiya:
- Being Sōjirō the Saint of Gemini and fighting against his twin, he could allude to the battle between Kanon and Saga at the Sanctuary during the Hades Saga.
- Being Sōjirō the Saint of Gemini and fighting against the Specter of Wyvern, it could also refer to the battle between Kanon and Rhadamanthys in the Underworld during the Saga of Hades.
- The trials that Sōjirō faces in Chapter 5 to become a Saint seem inspired by the challenges X imposes on Teppei before accepting him as his rider in the series B’t X, one of Masami Kurumada’s works. In the third chapter of the B’t X manga, X subjects Teppei to extreme tests, such as throwing him into the depths of the ocean and inside a volcano.
- Some fans consider Sōjirō to be the most powerful Gemini Saint in the Saint Seiya franchise. This view is based on the fact that, in chapter 37, it is observed that his Galaxian Explosion technique, after concentrating and releasing its entire cosmos to its maximum, is so powerful that it can transcend dimensions and thus reach the distant dimension where Yaldabaoth is sealed [1]. In addition, it is claimed that the cosmos of Sōjirō during this technique possessed the power to destroy dimensions [2].
