Hakurei ( Hakurei not ^? ) Better known as the Master of Jamir. is the sage older brother who has cancer is the task of repairing the armor. Helps his disciple Crane Yuzuriha and Unicorn Yato to enter the Yomotsu to rescue Pegasus Tenma . Get to the Sanctuary for the purpose of freeing prison Tenma, where is found to be the twin brother of Pope and survivor of the previous Holy War against Hades. After the death of his brother, he entrusted the office of Pope, posing by his brother (not to dent the morale of their fighters) orders his warriors to attack the fortress of Hades.

Plot overview

The Holy War XVI

Hakurei was the Silver Saint of Altar survivor of the previous Holy War. Brother Sage, along with other Saints defeated the Specters in the Temple of the High Priest by idea of sage and Athena sealed to The Souls of the Specters .

Lost Canvas

Master of Shion, Yuzuriha, Tokusa and Atla, brother of Sage. He survived, with his brother, the previous Holy War. Hakurei was originally entrusted to occupy the Pope's seat, but gave it up to his brother instead and moved in Jamir. He once prevented his apprentice Shion to defect Athena's ranks in favor of Hades.

With the demise of his brother, he has taken over the Pope's position, faking that Sage is still alive so not to break the morale of the Saints. In order to break the seal that cut down the Saints' power to 10% by using the sword blessed by Athena in the previous Holy War, Hakurei decides to go to Hades' territory alone despite of Shion's objection. Hakurei easily defeats the foot soldiers and upon entering the church of Hades, he is confronted by Hypnos, who brings forward the defeated disciples of Hakurei, Shion and Yuzuriha. Using the ultimate attack Praesepe Returning Spirits Wave (積尸気転霊波 Sekishiki Tenryōha^?) Hakurei summons the souls of the fallen Saints from the previous Holy War, among them Cancer Sage's soul. Hakurei uses their power to form a massive energy ball, which distracts the attention of Hypnos. While Hypnos is nullifying the energy ball, Hakurei unleashes his living soul to seal the defenseless Hypnos. However, before Hakurei can break the seal using the blessed sword, Hades appears out of thin air and kills him.

Altar Cloth in 16th Century

Altar ( Saidanza ) is a silver cloth that appears in the Encyclopedia Taizen. In the original series has an owner, but in Saint Seiya Lost Canvas possessor was Hakurei. Whoever will take the shadow of the patriarch and deceive the enemy into believing that is the Pope.

Curiosities

• Hakurei means "white spirit". It is also the name of the Japanese turnip plant, which fits with the custom of the author Shiori Teshirogi using plant names for the characters that inhabit his creation Jamir.
• There is no explanation of why Hakurei has been able to reach such an advanced age.
• There are many parallels between Hakurei and Sage, and Dohko Libra and Aries Shion. Both pairs are the only survivors of the war with the participation of Hades. Despite having a close relationship (of blood in one case, and friendship in the other) from the end of the war living apart, one of each pair as Pope of the Sanctuary, and the other far away, in Jamir in the Hakurei case, and the Peak of the Five Elders in the case of Dohko.
