Níðhöggr Fafner[1] (ニーズヘッグのファフナー Nīzuheggu no Fafunā) is one of new seven God Warriors, warriors who protects Asgard and serves Andreas.

Appearance[]

When not wearing his cloth, Fafner in a tall and thin man with long grey hair. He usually has a sinister smile on his face and tends to have a posture that somewhat looms over people.

Personality[]

Fafner as described by Lyfia is the most malefic God warrior there is as he is well known for taking part in human experimentation, even capturing an entire village of people to work on before being stopped. He would prey on the innocent and ill by offering "free health treatment" but was really trying to locate a specific person for a particular project and showed no remorse in going through as many people as he wanted to find that person. He's a scientist that does experiments in Yggdrasill for Andreas and is the one who made the new Odin sapphires.

Battles[]

Fafner debuted at the end of Episode 1, returning in Episode 2 when he is confronted by Aries Mu, who stops his local experiments on people.

He then reappears in episode 4 when Andreas gathers the God Warriors. Later on in the episode, he is confronted by Pisces Aphrodite, who attacked his lab to rescue Helena, a local Asgardian that became Aphrodite and Deathmask's friend.

Fafner was saved by Andreas and reappeared in episode 6 when he once again faces Mu in Svartalfheim, the chamber he protects in Yggdrasill. The battle is interrupted by Deathmask who was there to avenge Helena, fallen to Fafner´s experiment, and because he also took her brothers and sisters hostage. Deathmask took him to the Yomotsu Hirasaka where he defeated the God Warrior and imprisoned him into the ground where his face would be trampled on by the departed souls, saving Helena's siblings.

Trivia[]

  • His name, interestingly enough, is a reference to two particular dragons within Norse Mythology: Fafnir, the dragon that was slain by Siegfried, and Níðhögg, who was a dragon that fed off of the world tree known as Yggdrasil. This is fitting based on his actions within Soul of Gold.
