Pegasus Seiya (Netflix Series)

Seiya (星矢) is one of the Knights of Athena in Netflix's animated series SAINT SEIYA: Knights of the Zodiac. Originally an orphan living in a foster care home, he was introduced to the lore of the Knights of the Zodiac by Alman Kido.

Appearance[]

A young man with brown hair, tan skin, and brown eyes, Seiya is the image of a stereotypical teenage boy. In his civilian attire, he commonly wears a sleeveless red shirt, a red armband, blue jeans, and sneakers. As the Pegasus Knight, however, Seiya wears a formfitting red bodysuit along with silver bracers, a chest plate with a stylized Pegasus head between his pectorals. Consistent throughout his armor is the appearance of stylized winged elements, including the design of his shoulder pauldrons, wings on his boots, and even small wing-like protrusions on his back armor.

Personality[]

An orphan with a rough history following his sister's abduction by a Gold Knight, Seiya is a hostile, defensive, but ultimately good-natured young man. He is straightforward, stubborn, and blunt, which typically makes it difficult for him to see beyond the superficial layers of the world. However, he remains a noble soul, who is willing to put his life on the line in order to serve a cause greater than himself.

Seiya is a sentimental man, having held on to a childhood drawing of his sister, Patricia, as his only memento of her, becoming furious at a group of gang members for taking it from his wallet. This attachment to his long-lost sister is what allows him to tap into his Cosmo for the first time.

Abilities and skills[]

Cosmo: Seiya trained under Eagle Marin in Sanctuary, Greece, to learn how to tap into a power known as Cosmo. This power is described as being the primordial state of all matter released by the Big Bang, with everyone having the universe inside them, as they themselves are an expression of the universe given intelligence enough to use it. By tapping into his own personal universe and by seeing the world as nothing more than a mass of atoms, Seiya is able to use Cosmo to achieve multiple enhanced abilities, including:
- Superhuman strength: Able to crush rocks and create craters in solid stone with his bare hands, Seiya has been shown to stop punches from similarly enhanced humans.
- Superhuman speed: Seiya is able to move faster than the untrained human eye can track.
- Superhuman durability: Having been shown to withstand being thrown into boulders with them cracking on impact, Seiya's body is several times more durable than an ordinary human.
- Superhuman agility: Seiya has been shown leaping distances far beyond even the finest Olympic athletes.
- Superhuman perceptions: Like other Knights, Seiya is able to see objects moving at speeds far faster than is normal for a human and can sense the Cosmo given off by other Knights.
- Accelerated healing: Seiya can use his Cosmo to rapidly heal his body from life-threatening injuries, such as when he did so following his defeat of Black Knight Cassios. However, this can leave him drained and unable to fight, as was the case when he faced Phoenix Nero.
- Energy projection: By burning his Cosmo, Seiya is able to launch projectiles of energy.
