History and Mythology
Phaethon was the horse of the goddess Eos, responsible for pulling the morning sun across the sky in Greek mythology. In another myth, Phaethon was the son of the sun god Helios who died after he was unable control the horses that pulled his father's solar chariot.
The constellation of Phaethon would later become part of the Auriga constellation
