Aiolos (アイオロス, Aiorosu) is a character from the manga spin-off "Saint Seiya: Meiō Iden - Dark Wing". He is the Sagittarius Gold Saint and is part of the twelve Gold Saints, the elite warriors within the army of the goddess Athena. He guards the Sagittarius Temple in the Sanctuary of Athena.

He is the teacher of Sōjirō, who later became the Saint de Gemini, and also instructed a group of female students. He was one of the Saints sent to secretly protect and watch over Cattleya, who is the reincarnation of the goddess Athena. During this time, Aiolos posed as a teacher at the Graad Academy. He is the teacher of Sōjirō, who later became the Saint of Gemini, and also instructed a group of female students. He was one of the Saints sent to secretly protect and watch over Cattleya, who is the reincarnation of the goddess Athena. During this time, Aiolos posed as a professor at the Graad Academy.

Appearance[]

His appearance is similar to that of his counterpart in the main universe, being an attractive young man with white complexion and blonde hair. However, unlike his counterpart, this Aiolos did not die during his teenage years while protecting the reincarnation of Athena. Therefore, he is an adult man, although he still retains his youthful appearance.

Personality[]

He is a man of great kindness and solid human values, who does not fear to sacrifice his life to protect the goddess Athena and the world from the gods that pose a threat. He instilled these values in both Sōjirō and his students, who considered him a model of what an Athena Saint should be.

History[]

Past[]

Aiolos was in charge of instructing Sōjirō and a group of female students who sought to become Saints of Athena. Although his training was demanding, especially with his disciple Sōjirō, Aiolos proved to be a great teacher by imparting knowledge and transmitting solid values to his disciples. These seemed to be happy by his side, even going so far as to organize a party for him as a token of appreciation. For one night, Aiolos sat down next to Sōjirō to gaze at the stars, a moment in which they spoke of the battle that was about to happen. Aiolos asked Sōjirō to use his power to protect the order and justice of this world.

The mission to protect Athena[]

Aiolos is given the mission to protect and watch over Cattleya, who is unknowingly the reincarnation of Athena. In this mission, he has the support of Sōjirō and Theseus, who infiltrate the same school as the girl’s students, while Aiolos takes on the role of teacher. The three secretly protect Athena, but during the entrance ceremony, Sōjirō detects the presence of a possible enemy [1]. Subsequently, the three meet to discuss what happened and, keeping calm, wait for the young woman, whom Sōjirō recognizes as a possible enemy, to take action against Athena. However, seeing that he does not seem to have hostile intentions, Sōjirō decides to ask him directly about his intentions.

Sōjirō meets up with Charlotte and, upon seeing that she has no bad intentions, they decide to meet to talk about their mission. During the conversation, Charlotte explains that she was there to watch over Cattleya as some of her fellow Specters were being killed at the time of her awakening. However, he realized that Cattleya had not yet awakened as Athena, so it was impossible for him to order that. Later, Sōjirō calls Aiolos from his cell phone to inform him of the incident. Aiolos, still at school, is incredulous to the information, but suspects that several Saints may be involved in the attacks on the Specters and fears that something sinister is going on. While analyzing the situation, Aiolos begins to feel a headache and his eyes begin to bleed. At that moment, he has a strange vision in which he sees an unknown Athena and a group of Saints whom he had never seen before. Sore and lying on the ground, Aiolos looks up and realizes that he is in front of the Capricorn Saint.

Eito notes the condition in which Aiolos finds himself and mentions that, as they had explained to him, he is experiencing a mixture of memories and must be eliminated. Then, Eito attacks him with his Excalibur, inflicting several cuts on Aiolos, who recognizes that attack as the technique of Shura, something strange to him, since he does not know this person. Aiolos tries to defend himself and summons his armor, but it does not respond. Eito tells him that, as he was told by this person, Aiolos' destiny is to die before the start of the Holy War, no matter how much the world changes or in what space-time they are. At that moment, he releases flames from his hand which consume the body of Aiolos. While this is happening, Aiolos has a final vision in which he escapes from the Sanctuary to save a baby, and just before being consumed by the flames, he realizes that Sōjirō will face a terrifying fate. Finally, Aiolos disappears and Eito declares that he has been eliminated from the existence of this world and no one will mourn his death.

Legacy[]

After being erased from existence, his soul and all his memories were removed from the world. As a result, none of the people related to him remember him, including his disciple and all the Saints of the Sanctuary. The latter notice that something is not right with Sagittarius, but they cannot identify what the problem is. Taking advantage of this situation, an unknown enemy places an impostor in the Sanctuary, who takes the place of Aiolos as Saint de Sagittarius, using an empty armor that controls at will.

Despite being erased from existence and his soul being completely removed from this world, a fragment of Aiolos' soul manages to resist and his brave spirit manifests once more to help the soul of Athena communicate with Cattleya, Yoruhime, Sōjirō and Shōichirō. At the end of the conversation with the goddess, where they discover the identity of the true enemy, the Sagittarius Cloth used by the enemy is purified and regains its original form. At the same time, Sōjirō hears a voice that tells him he trusts everything, allowing Sōjirō to recall Aiolos' existence. After all these events, the last trace of Aiolos' spirit disappears from the world

Abilities[]

  • As a Saint he can control the energy known as cosmos.
  • The Saints have the power to tear the sky with their fists and break the earth with their kicks.
  • Like Gold Saint, he can travel and fight at the speed of light (300,000 kilometers per second) and, thanks to the Gold Cloth he wears, he can withstand the cold down to -273.15°C, that is, absolute zero.

Notes[]

  • Some fans theorize that this Aiolos could be a reincarnation of the Aiolos we knew in the original universe, which would explain his memories and visions of that universe before his death. There are even those who suggest that the fact that Dark Wing is considered an Isekai is due to Aiolos being reincarnated in this world.
  • The words of Eito before eliminating Aiolos suggest that, regardless of the world in which he finds himself or the differences that exist, Aiolos' destiny is to die before the beginning of the Holy War. However, in Episode. G Assassin a version of another universe was presented in which this character did not die before that battle. Therefore, it could be said that Eito was wrong or simply mentioned those words because the death of Aiolos before the start of the Holy War is an event that repeats itself in many universes.
  • Due to his brief appearance, Aiolos never had a chance to show any special technique in this manga. However, the impostor who takes his place as Sagittarius uses the "Atomic Dark Bolt" technique, a dark version of the "Atomic Thunderbolt" that Aiolos used to use in the original anime, so some fans have speculated that this version of Aiolos also uses the  "Atomic Thunderbolt".
