Plot[]
The twelve Gold Saints of Athena are thought to have given their lives to destroy the Wailing Wall in the Underworld to allow the Bronze Saints to defeat Hades. In the snowy land of Asgard, Leo Aiolia is suddenly revived on a mountainside and makes his way toward the city.
In the town, the close friend of the queen, Lyfia, is trying to gather the local citizens to help her defeat the mysterious circumstances that are befalling their town. Unfortunately, the people do not feel that they would stand much of a chance against the Asgardian soldiers and Lyfia is soon placed in a cell as she has been labeled a felon. In the cell, she meets Aioria and witnesses his powers as a saint as he breaks free from the prison and easily defeat Asgardian soldiers. Having heard the legend of the saints of Athena, she attempts to get Aioria to listen to her plea but he first remains focused on returning to the Sanctuary in order to figure out why he was suddenly revived. Lyfia does not let him leave so easily and he eventually decides to listen to her.
At a restaurant, Lyfia explains that Polaris Hilda had suddenly become ill and was no longer able to perform her duties as Odin's representative. Because of this, Andreas Lise had been assigned to take her place over Asgard. One of the first things Andreas had done was bring the Tree of Yggdrasil to Asgard, something that was expressly forbidden, and has turned Asgard into a new haven free from the harsh winter climate the citizens are use to. Lyfia felt from the start that Andreas was up to something and was doing what he could to keep the favor of the people. With his new God Warriors at his side, Lyfia feels that Andreas is planning to take over Asgard. Certain that Asgard will face tragedy unless Yggdrasil is destroyed, Lyfia pleased with Aioria to help her save her land and people.
Aioria then tells Lyfia how he and the other Gold Saints had been fighting Hades in the Underworld and how they had each perished during one final attack. Although surprised to hear how the man before her had supposedly died, Lyfia is just as mystified as to how Aioria could possibly be alive or what the reason for it may be. Even though Aioria wonders if it was Odin who may have revived him, he remains loyal to Athena as a saint. Understanding that Aioria may have his own battle to face, the Leo saint asks why she herself is fighting. Lyfia explains that, on the day Hilda fell ill, the queen had asked her to find a way to stop Andreas and destroy Yggdrasil. Even though she isn't sure why she was chosen, Lyfia still accepted and felt it was a way to help Hilda and Asgard.
Although she does not wish for Aioria to leave, Lyfia decides not to keep him from what he feels he needs to do and lets him leave. As he is making his way out of the town, Aioria continues to think over what Lyfia told him about what is befalling Asgard. He suddenly feels a cosmos and quickly hurries back to help Lyfia.
Back at the restaurant, Lyfia is nearly taken into custody by her childhood friend Gullinbursti Fróði. Fróði tries to question Lyfia about Aioria but learns that he has left. Although he mocks Lyfia for putting her trust in a Gold Saint, Fróði admits that he had wanted to see how he compared to the strength of one of Athena's strongest saints but now feels that the goddess has poor warriors serving her. Just then, Aioria appears. He frees Lyfia and claims that he will make Fróði regret slandering Athena.
Fróði finds himself pleased that Aioria has returned. Aioria dons his Leo cloth and easily defeats the Asgardian soldiers. This leave Fróði and Aioria to now face one another. At first, their powers seem on par with one another until Fróði gets the advantage thanks to his sword that moves at his own will. Although Aioria tries to fight back against the flying sword, he still takes damage as the sword is somehow able to move faster than his light speed fist. Fróði claims that it's thanks to the land of Asgard and Yggdrasil that his god cloth has been blessed with incredible power.
After landing another hit on Aioria, Fróði sees his hidden suspicions about the Leo were accurate when he sees the mark of Einherjar on the saint and figures out that he had previously been dead. Aioria confirms to him that he had perished during a previous battle, but he is not sure why he was revived in Asgard. As Fróði is prepared to send Aioria back to death, the necklace that Aioria is wearing suddenly begins to glow.
From the light, Aioria sees his brother Sagittarius Aiolos. Aiolos speaks to Aioria and the other revived gold saints that they must head to Yggdrasil. Aioria recalls the moment several years ago that Aiolos had been labeled a traitor and was about to escape Sanctuary with the infant Athena. He remembers how Aiolos was determined to carry out his mission and states that Aioria may one day face the same situation. Understanding his brother's words, Aioria is able to rise his cosmos and transform his gold cloth into the Leo God Cloth.
Even with this new cloth, Fróði believes that Aioria is still no match for him and proceeds to attack. With his new power, Aioria is able to defeat Fróði but soon collapses from exerting his cosmos. Seeing Lyfia go to attend the Leo, Fróði notices a strange presence around her. He decides to retreat and leave Lyfia and Aioria.
In the after credits scene, Aries Mū has made his way to a village when he senses a great cosmos. He ducks out of sight to avoid being spotted by Níðhöggr Fafner and his men.
