The Ultimate Power of the God Cloth ("Kyūkyoku! Goddo Kurosu no Chikara", 究極!神聖衣の力) is the fifth episode of the Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold series. It was released on June 6, 2015.

Overview[]

Mu begins to learn the secrets of the God Cloths. Meanwhile, the remaining Gold Saints begin to make their way toward Yggdrasil and encounter shocking enemies.

Plot[]

Aries Mū brings up how Pisces Aphrodite managed to obtain critical information regarding the Yggdrasil tree and was able to pass the information onto the Aries saint before loosing his life. Aphrodite was able to psychically inform Mu that there is a barrier guarding Yggdrasil and it will be impossible for the saints to get close to it since their cosmos will be greatly drained. However, if they are able to destroy the three crystals at the roots of the tree, they will be able to destroy the barrier, and their cosmos will not be as affected.

As Mu is about to depart to join in stopping what is growing inside Yggdrasil, Virgo Shaka hands Mu an item to take with him. Mu is startled to see that Shaka is handing him the very dagger that Athena had used to take her life in order to go to the Underworld. Shaka says that the dagger had been with him when he had been revived in Asgard and believes that it may also be from the will of whomever is behind everything.

In a foggy forest, Leo Aiolia and Lyfia are walking toward where they believe Yggdrasil is. As they walk, they hear Mu's voice speak to them as well as Taurus Aldebaran, Libra Dōko, and Scorpio Milo. Mu informs the saints about the exposed roots of the tree, known as the Great Roots. Milo guesses that they are meant to destroy these points. Mu confirms his theory but points out that they will not be able to do so in their current states. He begins to explain to them what Shaka was able to confirm. Each of their cloths possesses the power of a God Cloth but can only come forth when they have raised their cosmos to the highest level.

In his lair, Andreas Lise receives news from Gullinbursti Fróði that the Gold Saints will soon be reaching the barrier. Fróði is surprised to hear Andreas not call for an attack and hears Andreas claim that something is about to befall the saints.

In the fog, Milo remembers how Aquarius Camus said that he will not be able to reach Yggdrasil in his current condition and comes to the conclusion that the saints will need to break the barrier using their God Cloths. Mu warns Milo that this situation will not be as easy as he thinks since there is something else that is needed to obtain the God Cloth besides rising their cosmos. Before Mu can tell them what the extra requirement is, Milo ends the conversation as the three groups are suddenly faced with new enemies.

Dohko and Shiryu ep5-1

As Milo engages his opponent and manages to use Restriction on him, he is surprised to see that the fifteen star points on his cloth were frozen. Elsewhere, Aldebaran is suddenly attacked by the Nebula Chain and Dohko's fist is blocked by a familiar shield. At the same time, Aioria dodges numerous punches from his enemy. The four Gold Saints are stunned to see Pegasus Seiya, Andromeda Shun, Dragon Shiryū, and Cygnus Hyōga before them as they had believed the Bronze Saints were currently fighting against Hades in the Underworld.

Aioria fears that the Bronze Saints may have fallen in the battle and were revived just like they had been. He is further saddened when he believes this may also mean that Athena may too have perished. Thankfully, Lyfia is able to snap him out of his grief when she reveals that this may be the effect of the Fimbulwinter. She explains that it's a labyrinth around Yggdrasil that will use illusions on whomever enters its area in order to distract them from their true goal.

Coming to realize the young saints before them are not the real saints they know, Aldebaran is able to easily defeat the Andromeda imposter. Dohko and Milo are also able to defeat the illusions of Shiryu and Hyoga. Aioria especially is upset that Andreas would dare to use the Bronze Saints images against them while knowing that the young heroes are currently fighting for the world against Hades. Just as he is able to attack the Pegasus imposter, Aioria is shocked to see the figure suddenly change to Capricorn Shura.

As Aioria is able to dodge the numerous attacks from the Capricorn saint illusion, Mu wonders if this may have a deeper reasoning. Watching the fight, Andreas reveals that the Fimbulwinter is able to bring forth the darkest memories and feelings from within someone. Lyfia wonders if there is a bad connection between Shura and Aioria and receives confirmation from Mu when he tells her that Shura had been the one ordered to kill Sagittarius Aiolos several years earlier. She learns that Aiolos had saved the infant Athena and escaped Sanctuary but was falsely labeled a traitor. Shura had been ordered by the Pope of Sanctuary to eliminate Aiolos by any means.

Group ep5-1

Now understanding their history, Lyfia believes that Aioria may still hold hostile feelings toward Shura for what he had done. Aioria claims that he does not hold a grudge against Shura since he was only carrying out his duties as a saint. Aioria attempts to attack the illusion but misses and is nearly attacked when the real Shura appears and saves him.

Shura attempts to take on the illusion but finds that it can't be beaten like the other illusions. Managing to get hold of the illusion, Shura orders Aioria to destroy the illusion along with him. Aioria is shocked to hear Shura make this demand since it would mean that he would take great damage in the process. Shura continues to insist that Aioria go through with it and reveals that, when he had been ordered to eliminate Aiolos, he had witnessed the moment that Aiolos had vowed to carry out his mission. Shura came to the realization that, mission or not, it did not change the fact that he was about to take the life of Aioria's brother. Shura believed that one day he would be able to make amends to Aioria by one day giving him his life and thinks that today is that day.

As Shura again pleads for Aioria to attack, the Leo saint realizes that he did indeed still hold some anger toward Shura for what happened in the past but now thinks that he is finally able to move past that and accept Shura as a true saint. Not hesitating any longer, Aioria attacks. He is able to defeat the illusion but was able to leave Shura unharmed in the process.

With the final illusion gone, the fog clears and the group is surprised to see that they are right in front of one of the tree's roots. Milo, Dohko, and Aldebaran also find themselves before the other crystals. To their dismay, the crystals begin to quickly drain the saint's cosmos and make them realize that they must destroy the crystals before it's too late.

Athena's tears ep5-1

Milo calls for Mu to assist him in achieving his God Cloth. Mu initially refuses and tells the others the other requirement of achieving a God Cloth. He tells them that the last thing needed directly relates to Athena herself. Even though Mu admits he is only speculating, after the battle of the twelve houses and the war against Poseidon, only the cloths of the fallen saints had been wet by Athena's tears. Therefore, only those cloths can temporarily become a God Cloth. Aioria is the one exception since Athena bestowed onto him the necklace that once belonged to Aiolos and had absorbed some of Athena's cosmos from being in her possession until she returned it to the Leo saint.

Mu warns Milo that he cannot obtain a God Cloth since his cloth does not have that final requirement and that the Scorpio saint himself may not be up to the task physically considering his battle against Camus and Surt. The Aries saint asks for Milo to wait until he arrives as he has the golden dagger that could help him change his cloth. Milo asks for Mu to teleport the dagger to him since time is of the essence. Mu reluctantly teleports the dagger to Milo and the Scorpio saint calls for Aioria and Aldebaran to be ready to attack.

The three saints are able to raise their cosmos and change their cloths into God Cloths. Together, the saints are able to destroy the crystals, but Milo is lost in the process. Mu arrives just after and finds the golden dagger the only thing left. Retrieving the dagger, Mu weeps for his fallen comrade.

In the post credits scene, Shaka feels that Milo has fallen. He pleads for Athena to answer his question of why the Gold Saints were revived in Asgard and feels her cosmos answer him. Donning his cloth, Shaka prepares to enter the fight.

Trivia[]

  • As described in original myths, Yggdrasil has three large gems at its roots. While in the series the gems drain the cosmos of the enemy, original myths state the roots each represent a different world; Midgard (Earth), Jotunheim, and Helheim.
