Vander Graad (ベ ン ダ ー ・ グ ラ ア ー ド Bendā guraādo) is a minor antagonist who appeared in the animated series Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. He is the 2nd person along with his former friend and partner Mitsumasa Kido to raise Athena's Incarnation Saori Kido when she was a infant and watch over the Sagittarius Cloth. He is named after the Graad Foundation.
Appearance[]
Vander Graad is a stocky man with white-gray hair, pale skin and a green eye. He wears glasses and a general uniform. He has a burnt scar on the upper left side on his eye, which his left eye is dead with no pupil and iris. The accident that cause him that scar came from a explosion from experimentally on cosmos and the Black Knight armor.
Personality[]
Vander is a cold and calculating man, capable of murder in pursuit of saving the world due to his belief that humans must be masters of their destiny rather than lose their world to the Gods. Despite this, even after having betraying his friend Mitsumasa, he still cares about Mitsumasa and blames himself for his death.
Paranoid by the false prophecy of Saori turning into a evil version of Athena and starting the Holy Wars, he started to study on the Sagittarius Cloth to create his own armor for his own army. Creating the Black Knight armor, he gives it to anyone who would join and fight for Graad's cause, including his soldiers and mercenaries, especially renegades from Sanctuary like Cassios.
Abilities and skills[]
Super Black Knight Armor: Due to not unleashing his own cosmos, Graad had his own Black Knight armor that he built and kept in a secret room. This Black Knight armor Graad weared is more different. It's more powerful and bigger than the previous Black Knights.
- Superhuman strength: With the massive artificial muscles and strength his armor poses, Graad can through his opponents to boulders that is hard enough to break the boulder.
- Superhuman durability: Graad can take on any hits with the armor on.
- Energy projection: Graad can shoot out energy from his armor's fist.
- Cosmos Absorption: With the Black Knight Armor, Graad can absorb the cosmos of the Saints and use it against them.
